In a provocative short film, the UK’s largest independent energy supplier OVO Energy satirises US President Donald Trump’s stance by depicting the golf-loving billionaire smashing a solar panel.
OVO, which was founded in 2009 by entrepreneur Stephen Fitzpatrick, has for nearly a decade championed green energy development, production and installation. The success of the business has seen it build a client base of over 850,000 retail energy customers.
The short film it has shot with the help of art provocateur Alison Jackson was released to coincide with its biggest advertising campaign ever. Titled “Power Your Life Differently”, it’s OVO Energy’s rallying cry for people to embrace green energy and protect our future based around renewables.
The film produced by OVO Energy to support its green energy campaign, makes the point that even world leaders can make bad decisions and that, despite their power, they cannot stop to movement towards a clean energy future.
“We’re taking a stand against politicians and high-profile individuals who stand in the way of sustainable progress by unequivocally supporting fossil fuels and denying climate change,” said Sarah Keegan, Brand Director, OVO Energy.
“We’re making the point that if you’re against what they stand for when it comes to powering our planet, we’re with you.”
Launching in early March, “Power Your Life Differently” shows a series of everyday household appliances littered across a desolate beach, with each of these items powered by a single wind turbine.
It “aims to empower people to join OVO Energy in its quest to create a sustainable energy system, by signing up or switching to renewable electricity,” adds Keegan.
